How We Value Your Watches
Transparency matters. Here's exactly how WristWorth calculates market estimates — the data sources, methodology, and confidence scoring behind every valuation.
We combine a curated reference database of 1,800+ watches across 75+ brands with brand-specific market multipliers, real sold-listing data, and condition adjustments to generate confidence-scored Fair Value Bands. Our estimates are directional — not appraisals.
Our Data Sources
Reference Database
1,800+ watches across 75+ brands with MSRP, specifications, and curated market estimates. Key references are verified against live Chrono24 asking prices and eBay sold listings.
Brand Market Multipliers
When a specific reference isn't in our database, we apply brand-level appreciation or depreciation rates based on historical secondary market performance.
Fair Value Bands (Low / Mid / High)
For key references, we provide a 3-point range: Low (recent sales floor), Mid (typical transaction price), and High (premium/full-set sales) — derived from eBay completed listings and dealer asking prices.
Automated Market Feed
We ingest eBay sold listings weekly to refresh Fair Value Bands per reference. Your portfolio values update automatically as market conditions change.
Valuation Methodology
Reference Match
When you add a watch, we first attempt an exact match on reference number against our database. If found, we pull MSRP and known market estimate ranges.
Partial Match Fallback
If no exact match, we try partial reference matching (e.g., "126610" matches "126610LN" and "126610LV"). This catches variant dial colors and bracelet options.
Brand + Model Lookup
If reference matching fails, we search by brand and model name. If a match is found in our reference database, we use that model's MSRP as a baseline.
MSRP-Based Heuristic
As a final fallback, we apply brand-specific market multipliers to the MSRP — conservative estimates based on each brand's typical secondary market performance.
Brand Market Multipliers
Typical secondary market range relative to MSRP. Used when specific reference data is unavailable.
Confidence Scoring
Every valuation includes a confidence score based on how much real market data backs it.
Condition Adjustments
Fair Value Bands adjust based on watch condition. Our baseline assumes "Excellent" condition with box and papers.
Important Disclaimers
Our estimates are data-informed directional indicators — not professional appraisals.
Condition, service history, provenance, and market timing all affect real-world sale prices.
Rare dial variants, limited editions, and vintage pieces may trade at significant premiums not captured by our reference data.
We recommend cross-referencing with recent eBay sold listings and Chrono24 asking prices before making buy or sell decisions.
